The new plaza sits amidst street-level commercial businesses and the Atlanta History Center’s Midtown Campus. Designed to celebrate the unique historic and cultural identity of the landmark Commercial Row buildings, the plaza not only provides an unobstructed pathway for pedestrians but also a place to relax along this high traffic corridor. Colorful tables, chairs, and umbrellas will soon welcome visitors.
Nearly 200 plastic birds have traveled to Midtown Atlanta from Milan to hang over Commercial Row Commons. The swallows from international artist group Cracking Art are designed to inspire a community-wide conversation about the importance and the environmental impact of regeneration, while leaving a potent artistic trace in the communities where we live.
